I suggest adding a new event called Thread Access to let authors charge X credits for their valuable threads while keeping the content locked until users pay.

Forum options
  • Thread access cost option on thread creation
    01.png
  • Show a dollar icon in the thread status if the thread requires credits to access
    10.png
  • Thread access cost option on thread edit
    02.png
  • Thread access locked message
    03.png
  • Thread access event on the transaction page shows the username and avatar for the user who accessed your thread (if you're the thread author) and vice versa.
    04.png
  • Alerts when you access a thread or when your thread is accessed
    05.png
  • Thread access in the widget
    06.png
AdminCP options
  • Thread access event
    07.png
  • Event options have one option to keep the thread content locked after closing
    08.png
  • Permission to bypass the thread access charge

What do you mean by that?

Ok, but then the credit is debited to the thread creator when he uses this option?

This option keeps the content locked for users who haven't paid even after the thread is closed. Users who have already paid will still retain access.

I forgot to rename it to 'Maximum amount', it should be maximum amount the user can set for the 'Thread access cost' option.

Why do you want the content to be visible if the thread is closed?

Not sure if I can rename this field, but ok

I don't want it to be visible, which is why the option should be checked by default. However, the option gives the admin the option to make the thread publicly available when the content is no longer unique.

Why would you rename it if it's totally different than how the 'Amount' option works? I think you should create a new 'Maximum amount' option for this event.

Because it will use the same table and the same fields by default....

Actually, I'm not sure that should work with an event.

I understand that you don't want to add too many columns to the events table. We can proceed without it, since the feature's main purpose is to make the thread private and only available to users who have paid. The thread access amount can be removed if a moderator wants to reopen the thread for any reason.

Regarding the option to set a maximum amount, we can proceed without it, since the feature is unlikely to be abused by imposing excessively high charges to unlock threads. A maximum amount isn't really necessary, instead, you could replace it with an 'Exclude Usernames' setting to prevent abuse and exclude specific users from using this feature.
